Session 8: Separation of Powers

Materials

  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Chart paper or bulletin board paper strips

Instructional Activities

  1. Ask students to draw a graphic organizer using only pictures to represent the separation of powers between the branches of government and the system of checks and balances (nonverbal pictorial representation).

  2. Post the drawings around the room. Select students to describe the two concepts, using someone else's work.
